IT IS AMAZING HOW MUCH PEACE COMES WITH PRAYER

This is the first book in a series called Angels Among Us and will be a continuation. It is part mystery and suspense and part clean Amish romance. The story kept me in suspense as to who is lurking around the various Amish homesteads and particularly watching Rebekah. The story is inspirational as Rebekah learns to trust God and through prayer finds answers and acceptance in the Amish faith. She and childhood friend Eli court and marry, and now have a baby on the way. Eli and Jacob are concerned about a possible outsider or someone who left the faith hiding in barns, but why? I look forward to more stories in this series. Disclosure: I received an e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts, opinions, and ratings are my own.

ENJOYABLE READ BUT ENDING COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER

AN AMISH ROMANCE: THE BISHOP'S DAUGHTER is the first book in a series called "Angels Among Us". It is part mystery and suspense and part clean Amish romance. I was kept in suspense as to who was lurking around the Amish homesteads and who was watching Rebekah in particular.

Rebekah Stoltzfus, who is the Bishop's only daughter, learns to trust God and through prayer finds answers and acceptance in the Amish faith. She and childhood friend Eli Stauffer, court and marry, and now have a baby on the way. Eli and Jacob Byler, a childhood friend of both Eli and Rebekah, are concerned about a possible outsider or someone who left the faith who might be hiding in the barns. But why?

Even though this is a short story, it is packed with suspense and clean reading. I just love reading stories that you don't have to be on guard for foul language and sex scenes. This is a pleasant afternoon read.

Who is watching Rebekah?

Another great story by Terri Grace. This is the first book in the Angels Among Us series. Reveals is the Bishops daughter and has not decided to get baptised yet. Eli and Jacob both care for her. Then she feels as if someone is watching her. A great short story and excellent introduction into this series. Can't wait to start the next one.

A wonderful addition to the sci-fi graphic novel genre

The thing I love about a really great graphic novel is how the artists/writers use the interplay between text and art to each component’s full advantage. And in Electromagnate: The Book of Rebel Nations, John Rap shows that he knows how to use words and graphic elements to bring this compelling sci-fi drama to life (though I should mention that several artists were involved, all of whom are generously thanked at the end of the book).

The storyline is an intriguing one, especially considering our increasingly connected global society. The more we allow our lives and beings to be enmeshed with the transfer of information and data, the more we become the information and data. We then become vulnerable to whoever derives power (monetary or otherwise) from controlling that data (i.e., us).

I don’t want to give away too much of the plot arc, because it honestly is a fascinating one to discover. But I have to comment on the book’s brilliant use of the interaction between the words and the illustrations. First off, the illustrations are simply gorgeous. The illustrators all have a fabulous sense of color, and the emotions just pop off the page. Also, I really loved how sometimes the balance of words to illustrations fluctuated, which then tended to bolster the overall dramatic impact.

A beautiful triumvirate of a graphic novel

I'm not the greatest fan of graphic novels in the world. Really, I'm not. But I got this and I do not regret it in the slightest bit.

With graphic novels, I believe there is a triumvirate to judging its quality, drawing/colors, story/plot, and synthesis.

The color in this wonderful book is brightly lit. The contrasting colors work to literally illustrate how the story unfolds. As an avid reader of words, not graphics, I found myself absorbing the details seeping through the pages. I couldn't stop! I cannot begin to fathom the time and energy spent on creating piece of art. Artwork 5/5

Storywise, the graphic novel falls slightly behind the artwork. Slightly. The story is indeed intriguing. One would not be able to finish this book in one go if only for the colors. I found myself at multiple moments wondering what will next, as I scramble for the next page. What fall slightly behind the artwork is the, at times, mind befuddling, turn of events. However, I wonder if this is a culture issue. I haven't read more than three or four graphics novels in my life, and for that reason, I might find it hard to follow trains of thought prone to exist in graphic novels. Story/Plot 4.5/5

Synthesis is how I consider the artwork and the story to come together. Alone on each of its own, great; but together, they can be beautiful. And this is where Electromagnate really shines. Through the whole book, I could not but marvel how these pages swooped by. Synthesis 5/5

Overall speaking, if you can get this book now before it runs out of stock, I highly recommend it.

Flat Earth Star Wars-Interesting Tale

I have read many science fiction graphic tales but none of them captured my interest like this one. The pictures added are highly illustrative, colorful and very relevant to the incident described. The story is woven around book flat earth theory. Though really that's just one component of electric universe theory. The story flows based on the construction of Tesla's global relay grid and I must say that this book is full of action. The best science fiction fantasy I have ever read and I love it. Recommended.

Digital Experience Design: Ideas Industries and Interaction

Linda has deftly woven together a highly readable and extremely informative collection of narratives, co-authored with various consultants and designers currently working in the field of Experience Design.

What is Experience Design? It is the effective use of digital multimedia technology and integrating other backgrounds such as education, health sciences, cinema, television, fine art, and architecture, to create immersive environments for specific audiences.

Throughout the chapters we are presented with some highly intuitive cross disciplinary methods of design ranging from the translation of Art and Cinematic production into multimedia "experiences", to the exploration of methods for designing effective content aimed towards those with intellectual disabilities. The chapter on harnessing the power of storytelling in film for design presents some brilliant ideas for keeping users engaged, utilising the theoretical concepts of linear and non linear forms of storytelling.

The artist may find practical solutions on how to entice their audience into consideration of abstract concepts and lateral thinking. The web designer can consider incorporating facets of architecture, the importance of sound design and cinematic techniques when designing sensory oriented online experiences.

One of a Kind

One-of-a-kind textbook intended for advanced students and computer system designers. It introduces a design methodology in an engineering quantitative approach that provides the reader with the necessary tools to compare and analyze various design alternatives. Advanced concepts such as the relation between cost, area and instruction set, optimum pipelining, superscalar designs, and memory system design are all introduced in a very appealing and rigorous quantitative approach.
The material provided in this text is quite suitable for senior-level undergraduates or first-year graduate students specializing in computer architecture and design. The material included in this book is the most advanced that directly leads to an improved design process. Design based on analytic techniques as compared to simulation techniques, I believe, will always be the leading design methodology in the academic and industrial surroundings.

High level overview of the job responsibilities of a DBA

This book is a high level overview of the job responsibilities of a DBA. A DBA may work on many different tasks with an organizations data and have many different responsibilities across organizations. This book covers everything that you might be asked to do as a DBA, where ever you may be working. The book is vendor independent which is nice because that gives you an understanding of concepts and work flow that are not tied to a specific product. Craig S. Mullins tells us that the book can be a class text book or a reference book or a guide book for educating management as to the job role of a DBA. There are also many other books referenced throughout the book which offers direction to readers, should you want a more in depth understanding of a concept. So as an introductory text on the job of a DBA this book will fit the bill, but remember it is a high over view of the responsibilities of a DBA so you will have to augment this text with others and with product specific information/ texts. Either way as a student of Library and Information Science I am very pleased with the book. It's also easy to read if you take a mature approach to studying, very clear text and layout, no color pictures, thin paper so be careful with turning pages and drinks that might spill! I just got the book, it was just published, so I have not read much, but flipping through it I can tell that the reader will get a very good foundational understanding of what a DBA does. And wouldn't you know that is what kind of book I was looking for.
SO thank you Mr. Mullins for this awesome book!

One of The Best for DBA s

I use this book ( 1st edition for last 2 years and 2nd edition just a month ago) for my Undergraduate ( BSc in IT ) and Masters , MSC in ISM , program. An excellent book to be used as a Text book for any Computer science Database Administration Courses.

In the second Edition , which took nearly 10 years from the 1st edition,
includes an entirely new chapter on the DBA's role in regulatory compliance.

This is new stuff , for last 10 years... which covers new material on data breaches, auditing, encryption, retention, and metadata management.
But , the old edition a still a good Text fo any DBA , courses..
